It would have taken actual effort and money to animate smooth-moving NPCs like other games have (Far Cry, Red Dead, etc).

The enemies zip around so quickly that aiming and shooting at them is terrible, which is pretty obviously why they give you a bullet-time button. Exploration is crap, immersion is nearly non-existent (the ease with which I break into people's houses while they literally watch me is pathetic) and combat is.fine I guess.

The best case scenario is that they made this game for as little money as possible and pocketed the profit in order to fuel other projects. They lack all humanity and there is no way the universe could possibly have gotten to this state and then maintained an equilibrium long enough to stay that way. Quite simply, the characters and setting are totally unbelievable. But add on top of that the ludicrous setting where capitalism is this cartoonish evil (that couldn't possibly exist as presented for longer than a week), and you have all the tact and wisdom of a middle school student hearing for the first time from their public school librarian that money is the root of all evil. That alone is enough to destroy a universe. OW is written with the maturity and competence of a Young Adult novelist, especially given the obvious.let's say "tilt" to characters, setting, banality of conversation, lack of "punch", etc.Įveryone already knows that the male/female issue is very present - the women are all variations of Mary Sue and they are basically all in positions of authority, only held down by evil/incompetent men. I'm about 15 hours into OW and about 45 minutes into DE. I got both this game and Disco Elysium during the sale and while everyone seemed to say this game was "meh", it's actually much, much worse than meh.
